Diplomatic, commercial and cultural ties between the Turkish and Chinese peoples go back to centuries through the historic Silk Road.

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Türkiye and People’s Republic of China were established on4 August 1971 after the signature of "Joint Statement Between the Republic of Türkiye and the People's Republic of China on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations" and via exchange of diplomatic Notes at that date in Paris, France.

The Turkish Embassy has been serving at its current Chancery in Beijing since 3 July 1972.

Within the Embassy there are Offices of:

- Armed Forces Attaché,

- Air Forces (and Naval) Attache,

- Chief Commercial Counsellor,

- Interior Affairs Counsellor,

- Culture and Tourism Counsellor,

- Communication (Press) Counsellor,

- Agriculture Counsellor,

- Economy Counsellor,

- Education Counsellor.

Consular services throughout China are being covered by the Embassy and the Turkish Consulates General in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Chengdu.

The provinces that fall under the responsibility of the Consular Section of the Embassy are all mainland China. Responsibility areas of our Consulate Generals are as follows:

- Shanghai : Shanghai, Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang,

- Hong Kong: Hong Kong andMacao,

- Guangzhou : Guangdong, Fujian, Guangxi, Hainan,

- Chengdu : Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou, Yunnan.
