Graduate of Ankara College (TED) and Ankara University, Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of International Relations.

Started his career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as candidate political officer at the Personnel Department in 1992, and was subsequently posted to the Western Europe Department in 1993. After his military service in 1994, he was posted again to the Western Europe Department until 1995.

He was posted as, Third Secretary to the Turkish Embassy in Doha, Qatar between 1995-1997; Second Secretary to the Turkish Embassy in Dublin, Ireland between 1997-2000; First Secretary at the Middle East-Iraq Department between 2000-2002; Counsellor at the Turkish Permanent Mission to the UN Office in Geneva between 2002-2006; Head of Department and Deputy Special Adviser of the Foreign Minister between 2006- 2008; Counsellor at the Turkish Permanent Mission in New York between 2008-2010 during Turkey’s non-permanent membership at the UN Security Council; Deputy Director General of Information and Press Department and Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs between September 2010-January 2013; Deputy Director General, Special Adviser to the Foreign Minister between January 2013-September 2014,

Ambassador to Canada between September 2014 - December 2018.

Ambassador, Director General for Syria between 2019-2022.

Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Permanent Representative to the Organisation of Prevention of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) between 2022- 2025.

Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China since 1 August, 2025.
